What This Product Does:
The front shock absorber (strut) top mount (sometimes called “strut mount,” “upper mount,” or “mount cap & bearing”) is the part that mounts the top of the front damper/strut to the vehicle’s body (strut tower). It carries spring and damper load, provides a secure connection to the chassis, and often includes a bearing to allow the strut to rotate with steering movement.
Over time, the top mount’s rubber or elastomer may degrade, the bearing may develop play or noise, the mount plate may shift, washers/nuts may loosen, dust covers may deteriorate. This results in increased noise, worse ride/handling, and possible mis-alignment of the strut.
